I recently reinstalled Freelancer and was wondering what you guys thought was the best mod for it. Currently, I am using the Crossfire 2.0 mod which I love because it adds systems, sectors, ships, weapons, equipment, etc. While upgrading the AI (fights against 3+ ships are actually hard!), as well as having graphical updates and opensp/ADDITIONAL SP CAMPAIGN MISSIONS (meaning the mod should not break the original campaign).I used to play with the Discovery mod when I was much younger, but I have seen a lot of people giving it shit, while the Crossfire mod adds much more to the game than systems & ships (that's all I can remember that mod adding)Not sure what other mods people are using, or what is actively played on mp currently, but there is a 24/7 Crossfire 2.0 RP server that I've been playing on. Usually has a couple people on at a time, as well as server wide events that I'm sure bring people in sometimes. What do you guys think?. Vanilla, baby! No mods is the best mod.Seriously, though, I've installed and uninstalled all the big overhauls before (Crossfire, Disco, Evolutions), and everything just seems.scraped together or something.
Like, I think the art direction of Vanilla was so narrow that fan-made creations never feel like they fit in the universe. To me, they've all been distractingly not-Freelancer (and I'm with and against 'RulePlaying' servers). Which is unfortunate, because mods have been the best part of my other lifetime-favorite games. Then again, there are still plenty of mods I haven't tried, so take this with a grain of salt.
